🇳🇱 Nederlands : Het enorme militaire oefen- en testterrein bij Meppen vindt zijn oorsprong in 1876/1877, toen Krupp hier een schietterrein aanlegde voor de ontwikkeling en beproeving van geschut. Ook tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog werd het terrein gebruikt voor wapentests. Sinds 1957 wordt het gebied opnieuw voor militaire beproevingen gebruikt en tegenwoordig behoort het tot WTD 91 van de Bundeswehr. Op verschillende plaatsen staan oude pantservoertuigen die als doel- en testobject zijn gebruikt. Het terrein is nog actief militair gebied en is niet vrij toegankelijk.
🇬🇧 English : The enormous military training and testing area near Meppen dates back to 1876/1877, when Krupp established a firing range here for the development and testing of artillery.The site was also used for weapons testing during the Second World War. Since 1957, the area has once again been used for military testing and today it is part of WTD 91 of the Bundeswehr.At various locations, old armoured vehicles can still be seen that were used as targets and test objects.The site is still an active military area and is not open to the public.
